Credo [kree-doh] noun, from Middle English : Latin, ‘I believe’
~ a statement of the beliefs or aims that guide someone’s actions
Synonyms (abbreviated list): philosophy, code, dogma, thesis, conviction, position, doctrine
I wrote this credo almost two years ago. Even though I’ve come a long way personally since then, I think it’s still a great ideology for me to continue using. Its effect on me is energizing, centering, and motivating. Instead of its previous location, hidden in a notebook, I’m going to display this where I’ll see it everyday.
My Credo
I want to be, I want to believe.
I want to strive to succeed, not just survive.
I want success, to be blessed, to be heard and understood.
I want respect, prospective, wisdom, grace, to proliferate, not pontificate.
Create, build, sustain, leave an impression in this world.
To be known in my own little way for me, what is me, what makes me.
To belong, be strong, be vibrant and fearless in my dreams, pursuits, and vision.
To never let up, give up, give in, pretend to be someone I’m not.
To speak up, speak out, stand up for my thoughts, words, feelings, beliefs.
To stand in what I say and do, and take the praise or criticism others dole out because of it.
To never feel alone even when I physically am.
I will not be sorry for being full of emotion (emotion-full) and
Will resist closing up my vulnerability when the world is cruel and unyielding.
I will revel in what others have called my weirdness, difference…what I call uniqueness.
To not give in to mediocrity, the crowd, what’s in, what’s out, if it’s not me.
To know I am enough for myself.
To respect and love myself for all my faults and to find the beauty within.
I will be serious in my work, but not take myself too seriously.
I know that while I can’t guarantee making it to my predetermined destination,
I do have the power to make the journey worthwhile and meaning-full.
I will live life to the fullest because you only get one chance at life.
While I may not know with certainty my purpose on this planet,
I will with certainty enjoy searching for the answer.
I would love to hear what others do to keep motivated and enhance their personal growth!
